Core Values Explained

1. We accept the (Holy) Bible as being the inspired Word of God and the final authority on matters of faith and conduct. We accept it as the full revelation of God, and encourage the family of God at Rosettenville to read it prayerfully, study it diligently, and obey it implicitly. We appreciate that Scripture must be used to interpret Scripture. For this reason we expect expository preaching that seeks to expound the whole counsel of God.

2. We value the ongoing work of the Holy Spirit both in the individual and in the church as a body. We acknowledge that it is the Holy Spirit that makes Jesus real to us, leads us into all truth, convicts of sin, and empowers believers, through the congregation and together with those called from the congregation to specific offices.

3. We place great value on the practice of prayer in all its forms, and recognize its power. Prayer expresses our dependence upon God, and brings us into fellowship with Him, personally, in small groups and at specified church meetings.

4. We encourage worship that exalts and glorifies God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. We understand that worship has its focus on God, and our expression of it should never detract from Him, nor interfere with the worship of others. We value a worship style that caters for the broad generational spectrum, which is well planned and enables all worshipers to glorify God.

5. We envisage a ministry that reaches out to all people within the local church and our local community. A ministry that reaches out to all people of all generations, and which facilitates services in various languages as the Holy Spirit leads us.

6. We recognize that the church is the family of God, and as such should be loved and nurtured and matured in Christ the Head. Therefore we value the importance of family units in the church of God.

7. We endeavour, in our choice of office-bearers, to reflect the Biblical picture of leadership. We value Christian men and women who serve Christ as one in the body, and spiritually mature men being in positions of authority, where gender is mixed, to model the Biblical father roles in the families.
